In a respons to a remark on the FilePlanet only beta keys on the i3d forums, community manager Mitch responded with a cryptic:

There will be other ways to get into beta soon. Right now just Fileplanet but we will make some announcements soon

Frontlines: Fuel of War Designer Diary #1 - The Frontlines Mechanic
Posted by: RogueDOC  @  27-10-07 17:17:46 [Source]

Gamespot has Senior game designer Martin Raymond talking about the frontline game mechanic.

What's interesting about this mechanic is that the game focuses the action on the same frontline for both teams; the action is always centered within the frontline, and you always get a choice between setting up defenses at your objective or going on offense toward hostile territory. Our loadout and role system will make sure to provide you with plenty of cool toys to make both offense and defense equally exciting.

Gamespot Frontlines: Fuel of War Interview
Posted by: RogueDOC  @  25-10-07 21:16:30 [Source]

Gamespot sat down with Kaos senior producer, Joe Halper, and talked about Frontlines: Fuel of War.

GS AU: So we could be talking sequel here?

JH: I dunno, it's got potential! [Laughs.] You know what's really hard is developing a game, because it's pretty ambitious. The Call of Duties, the Battlefields are out there, they have a good foundation already--this was created from scratch. You develop all those elements and it's all these balances you're trying to bring up as one, all the vehicles, the levels, all the things for different consoles, and it takes so long to get to the part where you have a good demo. It would be great if we had one that was out already and just said, let's tweak something, like a Madden! Let's do a new football.

PS3 Delayed
Posted by: RogueDOC  @  24-10-07 05:06:23 [Source]

It seems that the PS3 version has been delayed. This form a post on Shacknews.

Note that only the PlayStation 3 version of Frontlines: Fuel of War has been delayed, as the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game are still on target for an early 2008 release, along with the previously confirmed Xbox 360 demo of the game coming in December.

"We still plan to ship the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Frontlines in the March quarter, as we are pleased with the quality on these platforms and believe this is the best launch window for the game," said THQ CEO Brian Farrell in a conference call following today's revised financial forecast. "We plan to release a demo of Frontlines in early December and expect it to be well received by both consumers and the game press.Read the Rest...

Gamespot preview
Posted by: RogueDOC  @  21-10-07 16:49:35 [Source]

Gamespot has a preview for us.

EA has its Battlefield games, and Activision recently shipped Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Now THQ is looking to get into the large-scale multiplayer action genre with Frontlines: Fuel of War. What distinguishes these games from regular first-person shooters is the scale; while a typical shooter features infantry combat only on smallish maps, a game like Frontlines will allow up to 64 players to fight it out on large levels using a mix of infantry and vehicle combat. (The console versions of Frontline will support up to 32 in a game.) Frontlines will be the latest of these games, and its designers know something about the genre, as they previously worked on Battlefield 2 and the popular Battlefield 1942 mod Desert Combat.
